The Last Mistress

The modern french filmmaker Catherine Breillat, known for her sexuallly aggressive work and self-stated Cronenberg similarities, had her most recent film Une Vielle Maitresse (The Last Mistress) picked up by IFC Films. Starring the much sought-out Asia Argento (known for a handful of explosive roles) as a 10-year long mistress to a peasant man who unexpectedly becomes engaged to a women in the French aristocracy, Breillant is a brilliant female filmmaker who continues to lead with controversy and aggressive work. Mistress is filled with period piece fights and hot sex scenes (would not expect anything less) and has received good reviews. IFC released the film this weekend in New York.
